Here's a piece of Broadway history that deserves a place in any serious musical theater collection. This Canadian pressing of the original Camelot cast recording captures one of the most ambitious productions of the golden age, featuring the incomparable Julie Andrews in her final Broadway role before conquering Hollywood, paired with Richard Burton at the height of his stage powers. Lerner and Loewe followed up My Fair Lady with this Arthurian epic, and while it may not have achieved the same commercial heights, the score contains some of their most sophisticated work - from the soaring romanticism of "If Ever I Would Leave You" to the wistful title number that would later become synonymous with the Kennedy administration.
