Here's a genuine first-year US pressing of Andrew Lloyd Webber's *The Phantom Of The Opera*, featuring the original London cast that defined these roles for generations. This 1987 Polydor release captures Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in their career-defining performances, recorded during the show's explosive debut year when it was still finding its theatrical legs at Her Majesty's Theatre. Crawford's interpretation of the Phantom remains the gold standard, while Brightman's Christine showcases the ethereal vocal quality that Lloyd Webber specifically wrote for (she was, after all, his wife at the time). The chemistry between these two performers created something lightning-in-a-bottle that later cast recordings have struggled to match.
