This is a well-made film. Ron Howard says it's not a documentary, but a lot of it is based on real events. Even the scenes that are known to be "artistic license" are believable; ie. when Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) and Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) start yelling at each about who is to blame for their predicament. They're sleep-deprived, they're uncomfortable, they're in a life-threatening situation, it makes sense for them to be a little short-tempered. I thought everyone's acting was excellent, although I'm a little biased because I'm a big fan of Tom Hanks and Kevin Bacon. Ed Harris's portrayal of Flight Director Gene Kranz is wonderful; he says things like, "We've never lost an American in space and we're sure as hell not gonna lose one on my watch!" without sounding corny. I enjoyed the Dateline NBC "Lucky 13" story and the "Making Of" feature that are included in this edition. I would recommend watching these if you want to know more about the real Apollo 13 mission, or you're interested in space exploration in general, or you want to know what it was like for the cast and crew of the movie to do things like film in a NASA simulator or put on a pressurized space suit (Kevin Bacon says it made him claustrophobic and sleepy)
