Arnett Cobb was a Texas tenor saxophonist who came up through the Lionel Hampton band in the 1940s and carried that hard-swinging, blues-drenched style throughout his career. Live At Sandy's, recorded in 1980 at Sandy's Jazz Revival in Beverly, Massachusetts, captures him in a live club setting alongside a group of Muse Records all-stars. The music is straight-ahead mainstream jazz with a heavy blues feel, rooted firmly in the swing and bebop tradition.
