This is Barbra Streisand at her most adventurous – a fascinating pivot from the woman who gave us "The Way We Were" into the disco-funk territory that was dominating the charts in '79. "Wet" stands as one of the most polarizing albums in Streisand's catalog, largely because it catches her completely outside her comfort zone, working with producers who understood the pulse of late-70s dance floors better than Broadway stages. The title track, produced by the Bee Gees' Barry Gibb during the height of his post-Saturday Night Fever powers, is pure silk-sheet seduction, while tracks like "Kiss Me in the Rain" show Streisand's soprano floating over arrangements that wouldn't sound out of place in a Studio 54 set.
