Bill Doggett was an American organist, pianist, and bandleader who became a key figure in rhythm and blues during the 1950s. Everybody Dance The Honky Tonk, released in 1956, captures his hard-swinging, groove-oriented style that blends R&B, jazz, and early funk. The album is built around the kind of rolling, organ-driven instrumentals Doggett was known for, riding the wave of his massive hit "Honky Tonk," a two-part single that topped the R&B charts that same year and crossed over to mainstream pop success.
