Here's a solid slice of mid-60s pop history from Bobby Vee, whose career trajectory reads like a rock and roll fairy tale. The Fargo, Minnesota teenager got his break when Buddy Holly's plane went down in 1959 – Vee's hastily assembled band filled in at a concert that night, launching him into the spotlight. By 1966, when this Liberty pressing hit the shelves, Vee had already scored major hits with "Take Good Care of My Baby" and "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes," cementing his place in the teen idol pantheon alongside Fabian and Bobby Rydell.
