Bonnie Guitar was a Seattle-born country singer and guitarist who had her biggest hit with "Dark Moon" in 1957 and remained active in country music through the 1960s and into the 1970s. This album, released on the budget Pickwick/33 label likely sometime in the late 1960s or early 1970s, collects country material in the vein of the era's mainstream Nashville sound. The title track, "Green Green Grass of Home," was a widely covered country standard made famous by Porter Wagoner and later Tom Jones, and its inclusion here suggests a set of familiar country songs aimed at a general audience.
