Boston's Third Stage is the band's third studio album, released in 1986 on MCA Records after an eight-year gap following Don't Look Back. The record continues the band's signature layered guitar sound and melodic hard rock style, largely the work of Tom Scholz, who wrote and produced the album. It produced the number-one hit "Amanda" as well as "We're Ready," both of which received significant radio airplay throughout the late eighties.
