The Box Tops were a Memphis-based blue-eyed soul and pop rock group led by vocalist Alex Chilton, known for his raw, gritty delivery well beyond his teenage years. Super Hits is a 1968 compilation on Bell Records pulling together some of their strongest material, including their massive 1967 debut single "The Letter" and the follow-up hit "Cry Like a Baby." The record captures the band's blend of Southern soul, pop, and rock that made them one of the more distinctive American acts of the late 1960s.
