Buck Owens and His Buckaroos' "Ain't It Amazing, Gracie" came out in 1973 on Capitol Records, landing during a transitional period for the Bakersfield Sound pioneer as country music was shifting toward the smoother Nashville style. Owens had built his reputation through the 1960s with his hard-edged, Telecaster-driven honky tonk sound, and this album carries some of that same grit while reflecting the era's changing tastes. It's a straightforward country record from one of the architects of the Bakersfield Sound, the California-based style that stood as a rougher alternative to the polished Nashville productions of the time
