Buck Owens and His Buckaroos' "Open Up Your Heart" came out in 1966 on Capitol Records, representing the Bakersfield Sound style that Owens helped define throughout the decade. The album features the tight, twangy electric guitar and no-frills honky-tonk production that set the Bakersfield scene apart from the polished Nashville sound of the era. Owens was at the height of his commercial popularity during this period, regularly charting on the country singles charts with the kind of uptempo, driving country that influenced countless artists who followed.
