Buck Owens' self-titled debut album came out in 1962 on Capitol Records, released during the early years of his career before he became a defining figure in the Bakersfield sound. The record is straightforward honky-tonk country, featuring Owens' clean Telecaster-driven guitar work and the twangy, no-frills approach that would come to define his style. It includes early versions of songs that helped establish him as a distinct voice apart from the Nashville mainstream of the era.
