Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, recorded in 1981 on RCA Red Seal, features the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Eduardo Mata, with soprano Barbara Hendricks, tenor John Aler, and baritone Håkan Hagegård as soloists. Orff composed the work in 1936, setting medieval Latin and Middle High German poems to music for orchestra, chorus, and vocal soloists. The opening and closing movement, "O Fortuna," is among the most recognizable pieces in the classical repertoire. This is a complete recording of the full cantata scenica.
