Cat Stevens' 1977 release on A&M Records marked a notable shift in his sound, incorporating synthesizers and electronic production alongside his familiar folk-pop songwriting. "Izitso" finds Stevens experimenting with a more modern, electronic-leaning approach compared to his earlier acoustic work, with tracks like "Remember the Days of the Old Schoolyard" and "(Was a) Dog a Doughnut" reflecting this new direction. It was one of his final albums before his conversion to Islam and subsequent withdrawal from the music industry.
