Chicago's Hot Streets, released in 1978 on Columbia, was the band's first album following the death of guitarist Terry Keller and marked the arrival of guitarist Donnie Dacus as his replacement. The record leans into the polished pop rock and soft rock direction the group had been moving toward through the mid-seventies, with lush production and the band's signature horn arrangements still present but backgrounded behind smoother studio textures. "Alive Again" and "No Tell Lover" were the standout singles, both receiving significant radio play at the time.
