Here's a fascinating piece of Chuck Berry history that often flies under the radar of casual collectors. This 1972 Canadian pressing on Pickwick/33 Records represents one of the more interesting budget reissue campaigns of the early 70s, when Berry's catalog was experiencing a renaissance thanks to the British Invasion bands openly crediting him as a primary influence. While Pickwick was known primarily for their budget compilations, this particular release showcases some of Berry's most essential Chess recordings in surprisingly solid audio quality, making it a worthwhile alternative to the often-inflated original Chess pressings.
