Here's a fascinating piece of mid-70s rock history that often gets overlooked in Cliff Richard's extensive catalog. "I'm Nearly Famous" marked a pivotal moment when Britain's eternal teenager attempted to shed his squeaky-clean image and embrace a grittier, more contemporary sound. Working with producer Bruce Welch and featuring contributions from members of 10cc, this album saw Cliff experimenting with everything from driving rock numbers to surprisingly funky grooves. The title track itself was a tongue-in-cheek commentary on his career longevity and quest for relevance in the changing musical landscape of the 1970s.
