Crystal Gayle's *Classic Crystal*, released in 1979 on United Artists Records, is a country compilation drawing together some of her strongest recordings from the mid-to-late 1970s. Gayle, born Brenda Gail Webb and the younger sister of Loretta Lynn, built her reputation on a smoother, more pop-leaning strain of country that helped broaden the genre's mainstream appeal during that era. The album includes her signature hit "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," which reached number one on the country charts and crossed over onto the pop charts as well.
