Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond were longtime collaborators, with Desmond serving as the alto saxophonist in the Dave Brubeck Quartet for many years, and this 1967 compilation draws together recordings that highlight their cool jazz interplay. The album features a relaxed, melodic style characteristic of West Coast cool jazz, with Brubeck's distinctive piano work paired against Desmond's smooth, lyrical saxophone lines. Released on Custom Records, it offers a solid cross-section of their laid-back, sophisticated sound for listeners already familiar with the duo's work on more prominent releases like "Time Out."
