Here's a Canadian EMI America pressing of Bowie's commercial breakthrough "Let's Dance" – the album that introduced the Thin White Duke to MTV and stadium audiences worldwide. Released at the height of the new wave era, this record marked Bowie's collaboration with producer Nile Rodgers, who brought his Chic-honed disco sensibilities to craft what would become Bowie's biggest-selling album. The pairing seemed unlikely on paper, but Rodgers' sleek production perfectly complemented Bowie's theatrical pop instincts, resulting in three massive singles and a sound that defined early 80s sophistication.

This Canadian pressing is particularly sought after by collectors for its superior pressing quality compared to many US counterparts from the same period. EMI's Canadian plants were known for their attention to detail during this era, and the mastering on these northern pressings often retained more of the original mix's punch and clarity. The album itself represents a fascinating pivot point in Bowie's career – simultaneously his most accessible work and a creative risk that paid off handsomely. While purists debate its place in the Bowie canon, there's no denying the craftsmanship of tracks like "Modern Love" and the title cut, which remain as compelling today as they were forty years ago.
