Communiqué is the second studio album from British rock band Dire Straits, released in 1979 on Mercury Records. Like their debut, it leans into a laid-back blues rock sound built around Mark Knopfler's fingerpicked guitar style and his understated, conversational vocals. The album carries a similar feel to their self-titled debut, with tracks like "Lady Writer" and "Once Upon a Time in the West" representing the band's knack for atmospheric, groove-oriented rock.
