Don Kosaken Chor Serge Jaroff was a renowned Russian emigre choir founded by conductor Serge Jaroff in 1921, known for preserving traditional Cossack choral music throughout the 20th century. This 1981 Deutsche Grammophon release, "Abendglocken - Chöre Von Wolga Und Don" (Evening Bells - Choruses from the Volga and Don), collects traditional Russian and Cossack folk songs, religious hymns, and regional melodies from the Volga and Don river regions. The choir was celebrated for their disciplined blend of deep bass voices and soaring tenors
