Doug and the Slugs were a Vancouver-based pop rock band led by singer-songwriter Doug Bennett, and Music for the Hard of Thinking was their third studio album, released in 1982 on their own Ritdong label. The record sits comfortably in the new wave and pop rock territory the band was known for, blending witty, sardonic lyrics with catchy, keyboard-driven arrangements. The album produced "Day by Day," one of their better-known tracks from this period.
