Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show's second album, released in 1972 on Columbia Records, follows the loose, shaggy rock and roll template of their debut. The band blends country-tinged rock, humor, and occasional sentimentality, with Shel Silverstein contributing much of the songwriting. "The Cover of the Rolling Stone," their sardonic ode to rock stardom, became their breakout hit from this record and reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100.
