Here's a Canadian pressing of Elton John's "A Single Man" from 1978, marking a fascinating pivot point in Sir Elton's career. This album came at a time when John was reassessing both his personal life and musical direction, working without longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin for the first time since his early days. Instead, he collaborated with Gary Osborne on most tracks, resulting in a more introspective, adult contemporary sound that showcased his evolving artistry. The album features "Part-Time Love" and "Song for Guy," the latter being one of his most haunting instrumentals, written as a tribute to Guy Burchett, a motorcycle messenger who worked for Rocket Records and died tragically young.
