Here's a fascinating piece of late-60s vocal pop history that often gets overlooked by collectors focused on rock and psychedelia. Engelbert Humperdinck's "A Man Without Love" represents the peak of his commercial success, following his massive breakthrough with "Release Me" the previous year. This 1968 Parrot pressing captures the Leicester-born crooner at his most polished, backed by lush orchestrations that perfectly complement his theatrical vibrato. The title track, originally an Italian ballad called "Quando M'innamoro," became a top-20 hit and showcased Humperdinck's ability to transform European material into mainstream American gold.
