This Canadian RSO pressing of Eric Clapton's "Just One Night" captures one of the guitar legend's most compelling live periods, recorded during his December 1979 concerts at Tokyo's Budokan. Coming at the tail end of the 1970s, these performances showcase Clapton in remarkable form, blending his blues mastery with the country-rock influences that had been permeating his work since "Slowhand." The setlist spans his career beautifully, from Cream classics like "Crossroads" to more recent material, with particularly stellar versions of "Cocaine" and "Layla" that rival their studio counterparts. What makes these recordings special is Clapton's band, featuring Albert Lee on guitar and vocals, Carl Radle on bass, and Jamie Oldaker on drums – a tight unit that had been touring together and really gelled by this point.
