Cho-Liang Lin performs two Romantic-era violin concertos on this 1984 CBS Masterworks release, backed by the Philharmonia Orchestra under Michael Tilson Thomas. The disc pairs Mendelssohn's beloved Violin Concerto in E minor, one of the most frequently performed works in the violin repertoire, with Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor. Lin was in his mid-twenties at the time of the recording and had already established himself as one of the leading violin soloists of his generation.
