Ferde Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite and Aaron Copland's El Salón México, performed by the Boston Pops Orchestra under Arthur Fiedler, released in 1955 on RCA Victor Red Seal. The Grand Canyon Suite is a five-movement orchestral work depicting the landscapes of the American Southwest, with "On the Trail" being its most recognized movement. Copland's El Salón México is a single-movement orchestral piece drawing on Mexican folk and dance music. Fiedler and the Boston Pops were closely associated with accessible American classical repertoire of this era, and these two works pair naturally as showpieces of mid-20th century American orchest
