Franz Schubert's Piano Trio No. 2 in E-flat Major, Op. 100, is one of his most expansive and emotionally rich chamber works, composed in 1827 near the end of his life. This Odyssey pressing features a celebrated 1951 recording by violinist Adolf Busch, pianist Rudolf Serkin, and cellist Hermann Busch, a trio long regarded as one of the definitive interpretations of the work. The piece runs through four substantial movements and is known for its lyrical slow movement, which Schubert later reused in his incidental music for the play "Der Graf von Gleichen."
