Gene Krupa's self-titled 1955 Columbia release showcases the legendary drummer and bandleader at the helm of his big band, delivering the energetic swing and jazz he became famous for throughout the 1930s and 40s. Krupa rose to prominence with Benny Goodman before leading his own outfit, and this record captures his driving, showman drumming style alongside a full ensemble. It draws from the classic swing tradition that defined his career.
