Description Released on 6 June 1986, Invisible Touch is Genesis’ thirteenth studio album and their most commercially successful. It marked the peak of their pop transformation, delivering five U.S. Top 5 singles and showcasing Phil Collins’ charismatic vocals alongside Tony Banks’ synth textures and Mike Rutherford’s rhythmic guitar work.
The album blends polished pop-rock with progressive flourishes, from the politically charged “Land of Confusion” to the emotionally resonant “In Too Deep.” “Domino,” a two-part epic, retains the band’s art-rock roots, while “The Brazilian” closes the album with a cinematic instrumental.
Produced by Genesis and Hugh Padgham, the record reflects the sleek, radio-ready sound of the mid-80s while maintaining lyrical depth and musical sophistication. Invisible Touch remains a defining moment in the band’s evolution and a cornerstone of 1980s rock.
