Here's a pressing that bridges the gap between Glenn Miller's wartime legacy and the big band revival of the 1970s. RCA's "A Legendary Performer" compilation from 1974 was part of their prestigious Legendary Performer series, which gave classic artists the deluxe treatment during the vinyl renaissance. This particular collection draws from Miller's peak Victor recordings between 1939 and 1942, including definitive versions of "In the Mood," "Moonlight Serenade," and "Chattanooga Choo Choo" – tracks that essentially defined the sound of American swing before Miller's tragic disappearance over the English Channel.
