Gordon Lightfoot's self-titled debut album, released in 1966 on United Artists Records, introduced the Canadian singer-songwriter to a wider audience with his distinctive acoustic folk sound. The record features fingerpicked guitar work and Lightfoot's warm baritone voice across a set of original compositions, establishing the style he would carry throughout his career. "For Lovin' Me" and "Early Morning Rain" are among the standout tracks here, both of which had already gained attention through recordings by other artists before Lightfoot committed them to his own debut.
