Here's a Canadian pressing of Herb Alpert's "Rise" from 1979, representing a fascinating pivot point in the trumpeter's legendary career. While most collectors know Alpert for his Tijuana Brass work that dominated the mid-60s, "Rise" marked his bold leap into the disco-funk arena and became his biggest solo hit. The title track spent two weeks at number one and showcased Alpert's ability to reinvent himself musically, blending his signature trumpet sound with the era's electronic production techniques. This album proved that the A&M Records co-founder wasn't content to rest on his considerable laurels.
