Description Released on September 8, 1970, Third Album was the Jackson 5’s third studio LP and their second full-length release that year. It featured the group’s fourth consecutive No. 1 hit, “I’ll Be There,” which became Motown’s most successful single of the Detroit era. The album also included the Top 5 single “Mama’s Pearl” and fan favorites like “Goin’ Back to Indiana” and “Darling Dear.”

Produced by The Corporation and Hal Davis, the album showcased the Jackson 5’s growing musical maturity, blending bubblegum soul with more sophisticated arrangements. Michael Jackson’s vocals were increasingly expressive, and the group’s harmonies reflected their tight family dynamic. The album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Top LPs chart and No. 1 on both the US R&B Albums chart and Cashbox, solidifying their dominance in the pop and soul markets.
