Here's a Canadian London Records pressing of Jacques Loussier Trio's "Play Bach N° 5" from 1967, representing the continuation of one of jazz's most fascinating experiments. Loussier, who trained at the Paris Conservatory, essentially invented the concept of swinging Bach nearly a decade before this release, and by album number five in the series, the trio had refined their approach to near perfection. This particular volume showcases their take on some of Bach's most beloved works, including inventions and pieces from The Well-Tempered Clavier, transformed through Loussier's sophisticated harmonic understanding and the trio's impeccable swing feel.
