Here's a Canadian pressing of Janis Ian's breakthrough album "Between The Lines," the 1975 release that transformed her from a promising teenage songwriter into a major commercial and artistic force. While Ian had already made waves as a precocious 14-year-old with "Society's Child," this Columbia album represented her full maturation as both a writer and performer. The centerpiece, "At Seventeen," became her signature song and earned her a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance, but the entire album showcases her remarkable ability to capture universal feelings of alienation and longing with uncommon literary precision.
