Jim Messina's 1983 solo release on Warner Bros., One More Mile finds the former Loggins & Messina co-founder working in a polished country-pop and soft rock vein. Messina had already established himself as a seasoned singer-songwriter and guitarist through his work with Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and his long partnership with Kenny Loggins, and this album reflects that laid-back California country-rock sensibility. It's a relatively low-key entry in his solo catalog from the early eighties.
