Joe Cocker's debut album, released in 1969 on A&M Records, captures the gravelly-voiced British singer at the start of his career, blending blues rock, soul, and pop rock into a style that was distinctly his own. The record is perhaps best known for his raw, gospel-inflected cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends," which became a landmark recording of the era, as well as a cover of Traffic's "Feelin' Alright." The album features backing from the Grease Band and showcases Cocker's interpretive approach to rock and soul material.
