Here's a compelling find for classical collectors seeking exceptional interpretations of Romantic-era masterworks. This 1978 Benelux pressing captures violinist Andrei Korsakov's interpretation of Brahms' only Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77 - arguably one of the most technically demanding and emotionally profound violin concertos in the standard repertoire. Brahms wrote this piece in 1878 during a productive summer in Pörtschach, creating what many consider the perfect synthesis of Classical structure and Romantic expression. The concerto's notorious difficulty led even Joseph Joachim, the work's dedicatee and premiere violinist, to initially struggle with its demands.
