Jon & Vangelis were the collaborative duo of vocalist Jon Anderson (of Yes) and Greek electronic composer Vangelis, and "The Friends of Mr. Cairo" was their second studio album, released in 1981. The record blends Vangelis's lush synthesizer work with Anderson's distinctive high tenor vocals across a mix of synth-pop, ambient, and progressive electronic styles. The title track, a sprawling cinematic piece referencing classic Hollywood films, was a notable single, and "I'll Find My Way Home" became a significant hit in Europe.
