Léo Ferré was a French singer-songwriter and poet, one of the central figures of the French chanson tradition alongside Brassens and Brel. This 1969 Barclay release compiles twelve early recordings from the Monaco-born artist, drawing from the formative period of his career when he was establishing himself in postwar Parisian music circles. The collection showcases his characteristic blend of anarchist poetry and melodic chanson, with spare arrangements that put his baritone voice and literary lyrics front and center.
