Lie To Me: Season One used dvd set

This is the complete first season of the series Lie to Me. Is contains all 13 episodes of season 1. I fully admit I got addicted to this show after watching the pilot and carried on and watched the entire season over one weekend and then went looking to see when the next season would be out. Season 2 will be out on dvd in Sept 2010 and has been confirmed for a third season aswell.

The show itself revolves around Cal Lightman, a psychologist and human lie detector who has spent the last couple of decades studying the science of and behind lying and deception. He interpretes microexpressions (facial and body tells) to work out when they are lying or trying to conceal something, the slightest twitch of a mouth which would go un-noticed by most people, will give him answers. He uses this to help various police departments, government agencies and various political matters. Cal is divorced and shares custody of his 15 year old daughter.

The rest of the team consist of his second: Gillian Foster who is the more people friendly half of the pair, there seems to be a chemistry between the pair but she is married, even though is seems to the viewer and Cal that her husband is cheating on her.

The team is rounded off by Eli, who adheres to a strict policy of radical honesty, which means never lying even if it makes him seem rude and lastly Ria, the newest member of the team and a natural at what has taken the rest of the team years to learn and train themselves in. She can get very emotional, and lets her emotions cloud her judgement at times.

The series is excellent and very original compared to lots of other shows which tend to all be in the same vein (not that I'm complaining as I happen to have a serious yen for them). The show is very clever and the blunt honesty can be be very funny (Cal tends to remind me of Dr Greg House at times). It can be compared to The Mentalist or Psych in ways as all three main men look for the tells which other don't notice but Lie to Me focuses also on the science behind it.
