Marvin Hamlisch's soundtrack to the 1973 Sydney Pollack film starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford, released on Columbia in 1974. Hamlisch won three Academy Awards for his work on this film, including Best Original Score and Best Original Song for the title track, which Streisand also recorded separately to massive commercial success. The instrumental score blends orchestral pop with light jazz arrangements, and the album includes both the vocal version of "The Way We Were" and Hamlisch's orchestral readings of the film's themes.
