Mötley Crüe's third studio album, released in 1985 on Elektra Records, Theatre of Pain finds the Los Angeles glam metal band leaning into a more polished, radio-friendly sound compared to their earlier work. The album includes their cover of Brownsville Station's "Smokin' in the Boys Room," which became a top-40 hit, and the power ballad "Home Sweet Home," both of which received heavy MTV rotation. It sits alongside Shout at the Devil and Girls, Girls, Girls as a key record in the band's commercial peak during the mid-80s hard rock scene.
