Two volumes made sense when these DVDs were released a decade ago. Classic TV shows had 30+ episodes -- about equal to two seasons for modern shows. And, the price of TV series on DVD was higher (e.g. one can buy the entire I Love Lucy or MASH series for less than the price of a single season when those shows were first released on DVD).
