Here's a pressing that often gets overlooked in Neil Diamond's catalog, but shouldn't be. "On The Way To The Sky" marked Diamond's transition into the MTV era and represents some of his most sophisticated songwriting of the early 80s. This 1981 Columbia release features the sweeping orchestral arrangements that became Diamond's signature, but with a more contemporary production polish courtesy of Bob Gaudio of Four Seasons fame. The album spawned "Yesterday's Songs" and "Be Mine Tonight," tracks that showcase Diamond's ability to adapt his theatrical style to the changing musical landscape without losing his essential gravitas.
