Nik Kershaw's second studio album, released in 1984 in the UK and 1985 in the US on MCA Records, follows up his debut with more of the polished synth-pop and electronic pop sound that made him a fixture of the mid-80s British charts. The title track "The Riddle" was a major hit, as was "Wide Boy," and the album showcases Kershaw's knack for layered synthesizer arrangements and melodic hooks typical of the era.
